Embedded systems for controlling vehicles, construction and agricultural machinery are becoming increasingly powerful, while the control software behind them is becoming ever more elaborate and complex. The more lines of code the programmers write, the more difficult it becomes to ensure the quality of the software. If errors find their way into the end product, failures and malfunctions are literally pre-programmed. 

High reliability of the control software can only be achieved through extensive test runs, especially for projects in the widely used C programming language.
