Non-stop H2 filling of type 4 containers

A process which takes just a few minutes instead of six hours, in which there is no hydrogen wastage, and no need for the use of any nitrogen at all: think that's impossible? Wrong.

With the EDAG vacuum chamber, these and several other improvements are possible. This is because the filling system developed in-house avoids complex alternating pressure flushing during initial filling.

In addition to the time and resources saved and the resulting cut in costs, both suppliers and manufacturers can use the system to significantly scale the filling of Type 4 hydrogen tanks. More and more manufacturers are only installing tanks that have already been filled, in this way saving themselves the trouble of setting up their own hydrogen infrastructure, which also entails special measures for explosion risk areas.

In this webinar, Marius Koch, Head of EDAG's site in Bremen, which specializes in hydrogen-powered vehicles, will present the most important aspects of the technology and the process for initial filling in practice. He will provide concrete figures on the savings in material, time, manual effort and wear which this process makes possible. Koch will also be going into the safety of the process. In extensive tests, EDAG has proved that the Type 4 containers cannot be damaged in a vacuum.
