medical ecosystem: the future of medicine is digital, connected and automated

The German healthcare system is undergoing fundamental change. It is under enormous pressure: fewer and fewer specialists have to care for more and more patients. The solution lies in digital support to improve processes and relieve the burden on medical staff. Without this technological change, the existing problems can no longer be overcome. In this respect, digitization in medicine is no longer a trend for a more or less distant future, but an urgent necessity for the here and now.

However, implementation poses enormous challenges for many manufacturers, as the requirements are extensive and the landscape in which devices and software applications must prove themselves is extremely complex. In fact, the targeted efficiency gains can only be achieved if integration into a "medical ecosystem" is already considered during development.

If the potential of digitalization is not exploited in product development, both care and competitiveness will suffer. Alternatively, devices that are not very user-friendly and highly complex will fail due to low user acceptance among hospital, nursing, or medical staff. If interoperability or the user interface or user surface have to be revised retrospectively, high development costs for a redesign are likely.

Our white paper "From Medical Device Park to Medical Ecosystem," which you can download here, describes what constitutes the "medical ecosystem," what requirements must be met for successful integration, and how you can ensure that your development leads to future-proof products.
