Top pick list test bodies and child seats
In addition to the reliability of the vehicle, the most important criteria when buying a car in Germany include the safety of the passenger. This applies in particular to the second row in the vehicle, where children often sit. For car manufacturers, this is a particular challenge, as there are many different child seats on the market and, in addition to legal requirements, the ratings of the Euro NCAP test also help determine the success of a new vehicle.
The ratings and tests are based on 12 child seats from the so-called top pick list. OEMs must therefore ensure that all child seats fit perfectly on the vehicle's rear seats and offer maximum safety. To check whether all child seats can be installed and have sufficient space, legal test specimens are used that occupy the corresponding space that must be available for the child seats.
The presentation "Child safety - test bodies and child seats of the top pick list", which you can download free of charge on this page, clearly shows all child seats of the top pick list including important framework data for installation and restrictions. Extra listed are the child seats that are new in 2021.
Also listed are the most important test bodies that EDAG uses to determine whether there is sufficient space to install the child seats. The 21-page presentation thus contains a practical overview for all engineers who have to deal with the topic of child safety in the development of vehicle interiors, with up-to-the-minute data that will optimally support you in your development work.
