When quite vehicles need to be heard safely
Quiet vehicles pose new challenges for safety and development. Acoustic Vehicle Alerting Systems are required by law – but they must not only comply with standards, they must also be reliably assessable, flexibly adaptable, and realistically validatable. Classic solutions quickly reach their limits, especially in the prototype and testing phase.
With the EDAG Advanced Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (ED-AAVAS), EDAG offers an integrated hardware and software solution for the reproduction, parameterization, and acoustic evaluation of AVAS signals. The system is specially designed for prototypes and test vehicles and supports laboratory and outdoor measurements, monitoring, and loudspeaker positioning – independently of the vehicle CAN and easily integrated via standardized automotive interfaces.
The web-based interface can be used to simulate speeds, select sounds, and adjust volume, pitch, and frequency curves in accordance with standards. This allows AVAS signals to be developed specifically within the legally relevant frequency and speed range, measured reproducibly, and validated under real vehicle conditions.
The ED-AAVAS enables practical sound development based on brand values – from the acoustic idea to legally compliant evaluation in the vehicle. Modular, flexible, and easy to use, the system supports OEMs and suppliers in reducing development costs and efficiently implementing safe, brand-specific AVAS solutions.
